Description of each track:
01. Andromeda Coda Suite Introductory piece to the entire album featuring the "Shining Path to Truth and Knowledge" leitmotif bridging from Andromeda 2008.
02. Lightbringers A 19th Century Early Romantic influenced piece, inspired by Berloiz's Fantasy Symphony. Playful, a bit strong in several parts, and fantasy-like exploring the troublesome and mysterious nature of The Lightbringers.
03. Spirit of the Abyss Ambient and horror. The beginning "howling sounds" you hear is actually from the JPL website called "Saturn Sounds", where radio signals from far ranging probes observing Saturn are converted to audible sounds. The violins in the end resembles that everything is being sucked down into the Singularity.
04. The Captain and his ship Coda's main theme for Captain Dylan Hunt and the Andromeda Ascendant.
05. Pyrian Standoff Explores the conflict and tensions between the Systems Commonwealth and Pryian Empire.
06. The Engine of Creation A mysterious track guided by the concept of Robert's ideas behind the Engine of Creation, a device that ensures that the Expansion of the Universe continues. The last brass swell in the end resembles the rise of the Lucifers.
07. The Sun Goddess A track about Trance Gemini. Very Powerful, sweet, exciting, charming, and dark all in one theme.
08. The Perfect Future Trance talks about the possible future with Harper. It first begins here:
09. Out of Victoria, by Barbarossa "Using his child as a figurehead, he unites the Nietzscheans. He establishes an Empire." - Coda A martial cue resembling Tyr's ambitions of creating an Nietzschean Empire.
10. Widows and Orphans "He hears the lamentations of their women." - Andromeda Coda Carrying the same melody from "Out of Victoria, by Barbarossa" but a more depressing and somber tune. This track is about the devastation Tyr's ambitions have caused.
11. Battle Blades Extended "The Captain and his Ship" theme is introduced here again. "Dylan Hunt, with the help of his legendary ship, the Andromeda Ascendent, re-establishes the Commonwealth. Fear of Tyr and the Magog help him unite the Than, the Perseids, and many others into a great society. Dylan proves himself over and over as a great leader. And eventually he leads his new Commonwealth into a great war against Tyr and Tyr’s allies." - Andromeda Coda (This is rather an interesting piece as you can hear the sudden change in sound quality and performance strength. Unsatisfied about the strenght of the previous Orchestra, this is the first piece rendered by the much more powerful East West Quantum Leap library)
12. Beka's Counterattack An continuation of the Commonwealth-Nietzchean Empire conflict. Coda's new "Beka Theme" and "Out of Victoria, by Barbarossa" is used again the end.
13. Rommie's Departure Facing serious identity issues, the Ship made flesh avatar Rommie have decided to leave the crew. A tragic adaptation to the "Captain and his Ship" and "Andromeda Inviticus" theme.
14. Forged Alliance Dylan Hunt is determined and searches to establish a new alliance
15. Core, Logic, and Avatar Composed in less than 3 hours. Three structured melodies representing the three "sisters" of the Andromeda AI. Coincidentally, this piece was completed around Lexa Doig's birthday.
16. The Wayist Monks "Rising to the top of his Church, backed by a fanatical army of Wayist Magog and devoted believers... Rev Bem creates a third great nation." - Coda. Initially begins a smooth and calming track accompanied by Java Gamelan drums. This track is a combination of both European Middle Age music and temple music from the Far East.
17. Hold the Line Against the Night! An extention of Alex Lifeson's track, but with a full orchestra, and mountain singing voices of Tibet.
18. Space Voyage Ambient track.
19. Join the Consensus "The fourth great state arises. Led by... you (referring to Harper)" Andromeda Coda. The "Captain and his Ship" leitmotif is reintroduced again then gradually grow into an action track.
20. Transferring of the Mind "Bit by bit, in our adventures, you, Harper, lose yourself. Literally. An arm at first. A leg. An eye. In time, you become less a man and more... machine...." - Andromeda Coda. This is rather a depressing track with the elements of horror and a slight tough of electronically produced synthesizer effects. The boy chorus in the end sings a Requiem.
21. Harper's Wrath "Your mind, your consciousness, spreads like a virus through the entire Consensus. You cease to exist as a man... and become a nation. At the very end, in a battle with the Consensus, when they try to absorb Andromeda and the Commonwealth fleet" - Coda. The chorus in mid-section sings the lyric "Deus Ex Machina".
22. Glorious Heritage "Rommie was safe. In any scenario, she would always be there, beautiful, deadly, brilliant, loyal. And Dylan... his survival was assured. Whatever happened would begin and end with him. What was always at stake for Captain Dylan Hunt... was his soul....Dylan is crucial. Dylan is the catalyst. And the heart." - Andromeda Coda There are variations of the recurring "Captain and his ship" theme, but with the shadows of "Rommie's Departure".
23. Transcendence "Beka is obsessed with the Engine. Because she knows it can change...everything. With the Engine, she could remake reality.... It becomes part of her. It literally melds with her. And makes her... like a god." - Andromeda Coda
24. Captain Valentine An electronically driven track with the recurring "Beka Theme" leitmotif from "Beka's Counterattack".
25. Path to Eternal darnation "She loves you all already. Like a mother and a sister and a daughter and a wife. So she expands that love. She learns to love the conflict. She learns to love the peace. She learns to love all of creation. Every part of it, good and bad. Even the broken places. And then... she embraces the Abyss. And becomes it." - Andromeda Coda. This is a rather tragic piece as you can notice the climatic end when Beka embraces the Abyss.
26. Red Plague The Wayists under Reverend Behemial, Voice of the Way, carried on their holy war to cleanse the Universe. This piece is influenced by Gregorian chants as male chorus (Bass and Tenors) are singing actual Latin phrases such as "Benedictinos" accompanied by Tubular bells and high pitched metal instruments resembling very closely to Buddhist Temple chants since the ideas of the Way are influenced by Saint Jesus of Christianity, Saint Lao Tzu of Taoism, and Saint Buddha of Buddhism.
27. The Savage Magog This piece was made to specifically reproduce the mood from the Season 1 finale when Magog Swarm ships were attacking the Andromeda Ascendant. The "Singularity" represented by the clustered rising violins used in "Spirit of the Abyss" are represented again.
28. The Nietzschean Empire "Tyr Anasazi, the Emperor of the Nietzscheans." - Andromeda Coda. A thematic action cue accompanied by a full chorus, taiko drums, and deep synthesizer effects. The rare Wagner tuba and French Horns calling to battle are very prominent in this piece.
29. Memories of Tarn Vedra Dylan Hunt often ponders about his memories of Tarn Vedra, a home he misses dearly. This piece is primarily structured on two guitars and boy choir accompanied by an orchestra.
30. The Restored Systems Commonwealth "The Commonwealth is reborn, but now it includes the Nietzscheans, the Wayists and the Consensus. He even forces the Vedrans out of hiding. With his friends and allies at his side, Dylan comes to aid the Pyrians in their fight against the Abyss." - Andromeda Coda. Recurring "Memories of Tarn Vedra" melody and "Forged Alliance" used again.
31. Hope Lives Again (Arkology Theme) Adaptation to Matthew McCauley's Arkology Theme. The "Shining Path to Truth and Knowledge leitmotif from the Coda suite is used again as “We see, in all its glory, the Andromeda Ascendant, the greatest, the most powerful, the most beautiful starship ever. As it turns. And crackles with energy. And...jumps to slipstream" - Andromeda Coda
Last note: Unfortunately this will be the last Andromeda-related material I will producing from now on. I have other projects to work on. Thank you for listening in.
