According to a tweet posted 7/9 by Dallas Jenkins, director of "What If...", Kevin Sorbo will be at the film's world premiere in suburban Chicago on Monday, August 9th.  The venue will be the Harvest Bible Chapel in Elgin, IL.

Kevin's costars Debby Ryan & John Ratzenberger will also be in attendance... along with Dallas (no doubt).

They will also be attending the other big premiere the following night (8/10 at 7:30pm) in Grand Rapids (MI), where much of "What If..." was filmed.  Kevin's other costar, Kristy Swanson, will join them there.  Smiley

Great news!     Smiley

Looks like Kevin's got more movies in his future.    Grin

According to a press release, he'll star in an indie romantic comedy called "Three Times a Lady."

The film is about Reverend Shepherd (Kevin), a sincere preacher who hears several "stories" about a member of his congregation.  Being a "voice of reason," Shepherd is on a mission to "restore the truth."

"Three Times a Lady" was written by Darlene Lofgren and Barbara
Kerr Condon (also producer), writers of the upcoming TV movie "Just Desserts."  Condon is better known as an actress who's appeared in such TV shows as Mad Men & Big Love, films such as the Coen Brothers' "Intolerable Cruelty," and worked behind the scenes on the fan-made Internet sci-fi series Star Trek: New Voyages.

Kevin is also working on another film called "One Good Reason."  While there aren't a lot of details available, he did shoot some photos from the set, outside Palmdale, CA.  To get a glimpse of where he's at, click on...

Guess what?  Kevin's working on another independent film.   Cheesy

According to news reported today (7/15) by Yahoo Finance, via Marketwire, Kevin will be starring in the satirical comedy, "Poolboy:  Drowning Out the Fury," for A Common Thread Productions.

Kevin will play Sal Bando, a tortured Vietnam War veteran who returns home to a country he doesn't recognize... and a pool-cleaning industry seemingly dominated by minority-owned businesses.  Now Sal launches a one-man "mission" across Van Nuys (CA) to reclaim his "rightful vocation" and take revenge on the man who killed Sal's wife & son.

Kevin's costars include Danny Trejo, currently seen in the sci-fi thriller "Predators" (& the forthcoming "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas"), and Robert LaSardo (Nip/Tuck).

"Poolboy:  Drowning Out the Fury" is written & produced by Ross Patterson, who's appeared in the horror TV movie "House of the Dead 2."  The director is Garrett Brawith, whose credits include playing serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the 2008 telefilm "Diary of a Serial Killer."

Shooting begins Monday, July 19th.  The film will be distributed worldwide by Camelot Distribution Group & DarKnight Pictures.

Read the article here:
"Camelot Dives Into Summer With Patterson's 'Poolboy'"

Kevin's character of Sal Bando is not to be confused with the former major league baseball player Sal Bando, who played from 1966-81 for two teams:  Kansas City/Oakland A's & Milwaukee Brewers.

As a followup to the previous posts about "Abelar:  Tales of an Ancient Empire," the Albert Pyun-directed film featuring Kevin Sorbo as the merc warrior Aedan, there are some new images of him available for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks to the film's writer/producer Cynthia Curnan, images from the "Tales" press kit were shared with Loli G. from Spain.  The ones featuring Kevin in character have been posted to the following album:

As a followup to the past post about Kevin's indie comedy "Poolboy:  Drowning Out the Fury," the blog of the comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre has some photos from the set, offered by troupe member Rob Lathan, who plays the film's main bad guy, Permanent Nutface Gary... which is also the name of the character he created for an internet video.

One of the photos is of Rob (in character) with Kevin:

According to Rob's entry, Permanent Nutface Gary is a Russian scientist & Danny Trejo plays Gary's henchman.  The supporting cast also includes Ahmed Best ("Star Wars: Episode 1") as a ninja, Jason Mewes ("Clerks") as a stunt double for Kevin's Sal Bando, and Alanna Ubach ("Legally Blonde") as part of the reason why Gary has a permanent nutface.

Rob also mentioned that a highlight of his first day on the set was seeing Kevin "twirl a pool rake as a weapon as if it was nothing."  It seems to have been a confirmation of the practice video, found here:

Kevin practicing with the lethal pool skimmer

Rob's comedy has been featured in such late-night series as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon & The Colbert Report.  To read more of his blog entry and see the video that started it all, visit:

Also check out Gary's blog...
Permanent Nutface Gary in a Movie with Kevin Sorbo

For still more, including photos, check out Kevin's official Facebook page...

In one of his comments, he says the film is "kind of like 'more cowbell' ....this movie will make you laugh hard. PC crowd beware and prepare to be offended. It is on purpose. Think Archie Bunker...... All in the Family......  For you youngsters, Google it."

Kevin with Ross Patterson, who plays Saint James St. James & wrote the film
Kevin with "Tootin' Timmy the Clown" & his van
Kevin and Jennifer Elise Cox, who plays Rita

(Thanks, Kevin)

Of working with Jennifer, Kevin noted that she was a "very funny lady. We only had one scene. Whaaaaaaaa. I want more!!"

NOTE:  Jennifer Elise Cox has appeared in such past TV shows as Sex and the City, Nip/Tuck & Mind of Mencia, along with the movies "The Brady Bunch Movie" and "The Back-Up Plan."

It appears Antonio Cupo (Lieutenant Gadell "Pitiless as the Sun") may be showing up in one of Kevin Sorbo's latest film projects.

According to Kevin, Antonio is working in "Hostage" (working title), a drama featuring Kevin as a former mob hitman who enters the witness protection program... only to have the mob catch up with him 15 years later.  The film is being shot on location on the island of Malta by director Lamberto Bava, a third-generation Italian filmmaker.

Cupo, a Vancouver (BC) native, has been working in Italy for the last several years in film & living in Rome.  His post-Andromeda work includes appearances in the pilot of Showtime's drama series The L Word, the Disney Channel telefilm "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" and the Steven Spielberg-helmed miniseries "Taken."

A photo of him on the set with Kevin can be found at...
http://www.kevinsorbo.net/images/malta/malta14.jpg

According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) website, the film now has a new name... "Ostaggi" (Italian for "Hostages").  It is listed as a TV movie set to be released in Italy sometime this November.

The plot listed on the site notes that the story features two men who robbed a nightclub & killed the owner's son.  While on the run, the robbers & an associate are involved in a fiery car accident that destroys the stolen money.

Meanwhile, Dave McBain (Kevin) leaves his house after having an argument over the phone. Soon after, the robbers enter the house and take McBain's wife Giovanna (Jane Alexander) & two children hostage.

We now know that Antonio Cupo ("Pitiless as the Sun") plays Matthias Caruana, one of the robbers.

Gustavo Leao at TrekWeb.com has interviewed Kevin Sorbo about his upcoming movie "Paradox," based on the sci-fi comic book miniseries by former Law & Order: SVU scribe Christos Gage.  Smiley

The short interview covers what it was like on the set, working with the cast & crew and the film's director, former Andromeda episode director Brenton Spencer... who directed Kevin in "Never Cry Werewolf" & worked with him in "Something Beneath."

Heidi Martinuzzi's horror-oriented website forum Pretty/Scary.net has an unusual Q&A with Kevin, including news on a SyFy project that may come to pass... Legendary.  In the vein of the movies "Galaxy Quest" & "My Name is Bruce," the project has Kevin (as himself) being told by a young fan that the gods & monsters he faced on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys are real... and he has to fight them as himself.

Kevin was dubbed Pretty/Scary.net's Scary Stud of the Month for January 2010.  To see it for yourself, visit...
http://pretty-scary.net/content/mr-january-kevin-sorbo

As an update, the industry publication Variety announced on its website that Legendary is now in development.  The series will be a half-hour, single-camera comedy by David Eick, who worked on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and writers Adam Karp & Royal McGraw.

Eick is the series' Executive Producer; writers Karp & McGraw are supervising producers.

Kevin will play a tongue-in-cheek version of himself who gets recruited by a fan to fight actual gods & monsters trying to destroy Los Angeles.  Kevin will also serve as a producer of Legendary.

Former Andromeda episode director Martin Wood will team up with his Sanctuary partners Damian Kindler & Amanda Tapping to develop a new drama series for SyFy called Sherwood.

As the name suggests, the series is a new interpretation of the Robin Hood story with a twist... it's set in the 23rd century and deals with a privileged young man on a spaceship of misfits, trying to right the wrongs dealt to his family.

Another Kevin Sorbo project is in the works.  Cheesy

According to the horror fan news website DreadCentral.com, he'll participate in an audio CD drama adaptation of the classic Edgar Allan Poe short story "The Fall of the House of Usher," being released by Macabre Mansion.  Kevin's cohorts for this project are horror genre actor/stuntman Jim O'Rear ("Hell House," "Day of the Dead"), John Billingsley (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Bonita Friedericy (Chuck).

Done in the style of classic radio dramas, the new recording features four characters: Roderick & Madeline Usher (O'Rear, Friedericy), the family doctor (Billingsley) and an unnamed childhood friend of Roderick's (Kevin) serving as the narrator.

The audio CD will go on sale this October, with a portion of the proceeds going to Kevin's charity, A World Fit for Kids.  In addition, some additional items like autographed CDs & cast photos will also be available for donations.

Former Andromeda guest star Michael Ironside (Constantine "Patriarch" Stark "Twilight of the Idols," "Abridging the Devil's Divide") will appear in the upcoming final season of the CW's series Smallville.

According to TV Guide, Ironside will reprise his Season 4 guest role of General Lane (Lois' father) in an episode to air in late October.  His past work in the DC/Superman universe also includes voicing the character Darkseid in a couple of animated series.

Smallville's supporting cast includes Erica Durance ("Time Out of Mind") as Lois Lane.

Freelancer/blogger Jan Feighner has just posted a new Q&A with Kevin Sorbo in which he discusses his approaches to acting, writing,  directing & casting, working with the late Anthony Quinn, ad libbing and his recreational pursuits.

Glad you liked it, miz.  Smiley

And there's more KDS-related news...   Cheesy

"Changing Hands," the indie film featuring Kevin as a father dealing with his son bringing home a stolen handgun in his backpack, will be shown at the upcoming Southern Appalachian International Film Festival (SOAPIFF), held in late October in the Tri-Cities area of NE Tennessee.  The Scott L. Schwartz-directed thriller was the first film accepted into this year's SOAPIFF.

The festival promotes indie filmmakers & encourages film production in Southern Appalachia, along with preservation of these indie films.  The films & related activities of SOAPIFF are held in Johnson City & Bristol (TN) and on the campus of East Tennessee State University.

Also, Kevin did a short Q&A with writer Edward Terry of The Layman, the Presbyterian Lay Committee's newsletter, in which he talked about his faith-based film "What If..." and some other subjects, including his faith.  It also alludes to the fact that Kevin is writing a book that will, among other things, mention the 1997 aneurism that almost cost him his life.
